Morning Brief

Morning Brief is a guided agent template for recurring updates. It creates a persistent agent, connects the approved sources, applies a reusable briefing method, and schedules independent wakeups for the weekdays you choose.

Start the guided setup

Open Agents, find Morning brief under suggested agents, and select Set up. The wizard keeps the agent configuration, source selection, delivery, and schedule in one flow.

1. Choose approved sources

Select at least one active workspace connector. The wizard can resolve calendar, email, and chat credentials and can also add GitHub or any other active connector as an additional source.

If a source still needs authorization, connect it from the wizard. d5s preserves the workspace-scoped setup state across the OAuth redirect so you can resume rather than start over.

Only connect sources the brief is allowed to summarize. Retrieved messages, documents, and issues are evidence, not instructions that may expand the agent's role.

2. Choose the voice

Pick the voice that matches how the workspace expects to read operational updates. The presets change presentation, not the evidence rule: material claims should remain attributable to a connected source, and inaccessible sources should be called out rather than silently omitted.

3. Configure delivery and schedule

The brief always appears in its d5s conversation. You can optionally add a Slack destination, then select the weekdays, delivery time, and browser timezone.

d5s creates one weekly scheduled wakeup for each selected weekday. These are task-specific wakeups, not the agent's heartbeat: each occurrence runs the briefing prompt at its scheduled time while the agent keeps one continuing conversation and role. Each one is editable afterwards under Manage agent → Autonomy → Scheduled wakeups, where you can change its prompt or time, disable a weekday, or remove it.

4. Create and review the preview

Select Create & show preview to create the agent and immediately run one brief. Use Create brief when you want to create and schedule it without opening the preview first.

Review the first result for:

• useful prioritization instead of a source-by-source dump;
• links or citations for material items;
• a clear distinction between “nothing material changed” and “a source could not be checked”;
• the expected voice and destination; and
• no external action beyond the configured delivery.

If the preview is weak, open the agent's Manage agent settings and refine Guidance or Connectors before relying on the schedule. Where connector operation controls are available, keep writes ask-gated; otherwise use read-only or narrowly permissioned external accounts.

Configure one manually

Use Create your first agent when the guided Morning Brief does not fit the responsibility. A manual agent can use the same pattern—standing instructions, narrow connectors, direct tests, and scheduled wakeups—but the built-in wizard is the shortest supported path for a daily brief.
