Use a browser in project chats

beta

Let chats in a project open websites through one shared project browser, choose its websites, and sign in privately for everyone in the project.

Chats in a project can open websites through one browser that belongs to the project. All chats in the project share this browser and its sign-ins. Workspace admins choose which websites the chats can open.

If you see Browser in a project's Context, this feature is available in your workspace.

Before you start

  • To change the settings, you must be a workspace Owner or Admin. Other members can read the settings.
  • Chats with a named agent use the agent's own browser. See Sign in to websites for an agent.

Anyone who can chat in the project can ask a chat to act through the browser's signed-in accounts. Sign in only with accounts that are safe to share with those people. Websites can contain prompt injection, so allow only the websites that the chats need.

Choose the websites

  1. Open the project and select Context.
  2. Select Browser.
  3. In Websites, select one option:
    • Off: chats cannot open websites.
    • Allowed websites: chats can open only the websites in the list.
    • All websites: chats can open any public website. d5s asks you to confirm.

If the workspace requires website approval, All websites is not available.

Add or remove a website

  1. Select Allowed websites.
  2. Select Add website.
  3. Enter a host name, such as www.example.com. To include all subdomains, enter *.example.com.
  4. Select Add.

To remove a website, select the trash button on its row. The list must keep one website. To block all websites, select Off.

When a chat asks to open a new website, a workspace admin can approve it in the chat. The website is then added to the list.

Sign in for the project

  1. In Saved sign-ins, select Open privately.
  2. Go to the sign-in page and sign in.
  3. Close the private browser.

Only you control the private browser. Chats cannot view or use it while it is open. After you close it, all chats in the project can use the sign-in.

One chat at a time

One chat uses the project browser at a time. If another chat uses it, a second chat waits and continues when the browser is free. Saved sign-ins shows which chat uses the browser.

Find the project browser in Settings

The project browser is listed in workspace Settings > Browser. Its row shows Project and the project name. If you delete it, its sign-ins are removed. The next chat that opens a website creates a new project browser.

If something goes wrong

  • The browser is off in this project: a workspace admin can turn it on in Context > Browser.
  • The browser is not set up for this project: a workspace admin can open Context > Browser and select Open privately once.
